Keeping A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC a Family Affair
Keeping A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC a Family Affair
By Kathryn Harris on January 06, 2010
Ramona Mallory isn't the only one making her Broadway debut this season. But she is the only one whose first Broadway role is one her mother originally played. In the original production of Hugh Wheeler and Stephen Sondheim's intimate A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, Victoria Mallory played teenage bride Anne; she fell in love with Mark Lambert, who played her stepston, Henrik, and they eventually married. Little would they know that their daughter would take on her mother's role decades later in the first Broadway revival of that very show.
Ramona Mallory describes the experience for Broadway.com, sharing her personal connection to the role and her desire to inhabit an Anne different from her mother's.
