The new teacher at the modern school who puts on a production of "Nicholas Nickleby" with his class. Energetic, full of high spirits, and constantly defending the downtrodden. Optional Doubling as NICHOLAS NICKLEBY.

The head of the modern school, only too aware of his self-importance. Very calculating and stern. Optional Doubling as MR. SQUEERS.

The head cook at Dotheboys Hall. A tall, gaunt, hard-faced woman. She is full of energy and seems to bounce about everywhere but she has a dark side - especially with the boys of her school.

A teacher at the modern school, looking and acting old for her age. The resident Drama Mistress. She disapproves of any form of musical activity that she is not involved in. Optional Doubling as Miss Fanny Squeers.

A practical joker and avid impressionist. Optional Doubling as BOLDER.

A business man who enrolls his two young stepsons in Dotheboys Hall. Caring for his family, but also naive.
